Learning Design Stories
Storyline eLearning
This sample demonstrates how to effectively correct employee behavior. It is designed to require critical thinking and practice to work through the scenario. Ideally, I would use this type of targeted microlearning in a leadership development series for practicing specific skills and behaviors over a period of time.
Please keep in mind the scenario in this sample is invented and not an actual policy.
Storyline eLearning
This sample demonstrates how to implement a new customer service procedure for handling a specific billing request. Learners work through a scenario to learn the procedure while also practicing how to effectively communicate with the customer. I would use this type of eLearning when a procedural change also requires some soft skill or communication strategies.
Please keep in mind the scenario in this sample is invented and not an actual policy.
Infographic and Coaching Guide
I developed this job aid at Catalyst Learning. It was distributed as a free Covid-19 resource for healthcare providers. The goal was to provide soft skill strategies and tips that might be helpful for staff during Covid. The first page includes tips for asking leaders productive questions during change. The second page provides an optional coaching guide that managers can use during team meetings to reinforce learning.
Scenarios
I used PowerPoint to develop this resource for participants to use during a group practice activity for in-person leadership training. It directs participants to pair up and work through the scenarios on each slide to practice how to avoid bias and legal issues when interviewing candidates. I prefer to design instructor-led training sessions to maximize time for practice and discussion.

Screencast Videos and How-To Text Guides
The Office 2010 and 2013 tutorials on the free learning website, GCF Global, encompass my approach to creating how-to guides and screencasts for software training. As the lead learning designer, I did the top-level design and then directed the development work done by my team. However, most of the text-based guides for Word and PowerPoint 2010 are my own work.
